The Hawke's Bay Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club is located in Hawke's Bay, NZ. Te Mata Peak is the clubs main flying site. According to Māori legend the peak is the final resting place of Te Mata o Rongokako, the grandfather of Kahungunu, the founder of the Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi. The Peak is part of a limestone escarpment with several paraglider launch sites plus two hang gliding ramps. Te Mata Peak is great for ridge soaring, thermalling or xc flying. Most of our sites have special conditions associated with flying there; so contact MUST be made with the club before flying.
